The Ship Inn Swanage is conveniently located close to the beach at 23a High Street, Swanage, BH19 2LR. The pub serves classic pub food, as well as light bites, burgers, Sunday roasts and pizzas.

The Ship Inn Swanage Menu
There is plenty of choice on the menu at The Ship Inn. Our visit was during the week, so no taking advantage of a Sunday roast for us, however there was plenty to choose from.
If a main meal isn’t something you’re looking for, there was also a selection of baguettes and wraps on the menu alongside the light bites options.
We soon saw that the portion sizes were very generous, and whilst most included skinny fries, they turned out to be the nicest hand cut skin on chips we have eaten in a long while. Imagine chip shop chips, but without any grease and a nice crispness to them.

Facilities At The Ship Inn Swanage
You’ll find a small outside seating area to the front of the pub. This was full on our visit which wasn’t surprising as it was a gorgeous day in Swanage. Inside the pub, it felt airy, and despite having lots of tables nestled into all the space, we didn’t feel cramped at all.
The atmosphere was friendly, and the staff attentive. I ordered a drink not included on the wine list, and it was brought to me with no fuss at all. The pub’s social media pages suggest there is also live music within this Swanage pub, however it’s not something we personally witnessed.

Our Experience
On a whim, we had decided to visit Swanage on a busy Summer day. After parking close to the beach, it was lunch time and we were hungry. A quick check of the high street and we spotted a cluster of pubs in the vicinity and happened upon the Ship Inn.
There was a queue outside and we weren’t sure if the pub would be too busy, however we were quickly shown to a table inside. The service was attentive, yet not rushed which was very refreshing.

With the vast menu, we all opted for something different. Our four diners chose the blue burger, the buttermilk chicken burger, scampi and chips and a steak baguette. Even with freshly cooked food, we didn’t wait too long for our meals at all.
The pub was busy, yet the staff did a great job managing all the tables. Our food was delivered and looked delicious. In fact I would say it was one of the best burgers I have eaten in a long time. The chips as mentioned above were also delicious.
Too full for dessert sadly, we were well fed for an afternoon exploring Swanage.
