If you’ve ever thought about or even climbed Golden Cap in Dorset then, you may know you can approach the hill from different directions. The Seatown to Golden Cap walk starts from Seatown beach which has some lovely facilities for a day out in Dorset.

Getting To Seatown
You’ll find Seatown, a small hamlet just past Bridport and Eype. There is one car park which is located next to Seatown beach and Golden Cap Holiday park. The car park carries a daily charge of £8 or £4 after 4pm.
During our visit, we were also advised of a £2 reduction if we showed our receipt at the local Anchor Inn or the Seatown Slice pizza kiosk next door.
What3Words for Seatown car park is claw.pleasing.careful – The postcode for satnav is DT6 6JU.
There is no road parking available and it’s useful to be aware that the last quarter of a mile is a single track road leading to both the holiday park and also the car park.

Facilities At Seatown
Once parked in the large gravel car park, you will have direct access to the beach, Anchor Inn and Seatown Slice pizza kiosk. There are also toilets available, and a small convenience shop at the front of Golden Cap Holiday Park.

Seatown To Golden Cap Walk
Your Seatown to Golden Cap walking route begins from the car park. Leave the car park over the wooden bridge and turn right towards Golden Cap Holiday Park.
Follow the road for a short distance until you spot a small low level stone wall. Here you will see the sign post for Golden Cap.
The walk takes you through woodland, across fields and also on compacted ground. The route is very well signposted and is around a mile in distance.

Walking from Seatown towards Golden Cap also takes you past Langdon Woods, which offers another walking route. The Langdon Woods to Golden Cap walk is slightly flatter in the beginning, however starting from Seatown offers better coastal views.
As you are walking from sea level when starting from Seatown, your inclines will be higher, but the reward is worth it along the way and at the top.

Once you’re at the top of Golden Cap, you can return the way you came, or extend your walk by detouring through Langdon Woods.
We find the lure of a nice cold drink at the Anchor Inn is the reward we are looking for, especially on a nice day.
