The Woodman Ferndown Menu
The food menu has something for everyone, from pub classics, beef steaks to a range of daily specials.
As well as the main menu, there’s a vegan menu, kids menu, Sunday menu, and even a pub desk menu if you wish to work from a pub table during the day.
Pub classics include the steak and ale pie. British beef slow-cooked in a rich Marston’s ale & onion gravy, encased in a combination of shortcrust & puff pastry. Served with chips, carrots, garden peas & gravy.
The beer battered cod and chips, which is a large Atlantic cod fillet battered in-house with Marston’s beer batter. Served with chips, your choice of garden or mushy peas, tartar sauce and a slice of bloomer bread.
Facilities At The Woodman Pub In Ferndown
The pub is also one of the many dog friendly pubs in Dorset, and has a large outdoor play area for children. There is ample seating outside, some under a wooden gazebo style cover, and some without cover.
Inside the pub, the vast amount of tables means you’re more than likely able to find a table unless it’s a very busy day. Free wifi is also available for guests whilst dining.
Our Experience
We booked a table online at the last minute. In previous years, I perhaps wouldn’t have booked, but it was a nice day, and during the holiday season, so I decided it may be sensible to book.
When we arrived at the pub, there was a large sign saying pick a table and order at the bar, however there was a server waiting to seat people. I think perhaps with the easing of restrictions, the staff are still seating people.
Our table was for 6pm, and when we arrived there were lots of empty tables, some with reserved signs on them. By 7pm however the pub was very full. It’s a very large indoor space that seems to go on forever, however I’m guessing with being on a busy road, and with two holiday parks close by, it’s a popular choice for an evening meal.
Our meals were delivered to the table in a decent time frame considering the amount of people already dining. Cutlery and condiments are self service near the bar which we didn’t realise to begin with, but actually even despite that small delay to our meals, everything was hot.
The portions were huge and didn’t disappoint. I chose two patties in my burger and I could barely finish it. The food was cooked well, and whilst you can tell it’s quick, convenient food mass produced, it was tasty and everyone enjoyed their meals.
