Bridport and West Bay are in West Dorset, and have good links to the Jurassic Coast and South West Coastal path. From the East Cliff at West Bay you can see across to Golden Cap and Charmouth.

You’ll find West Bay Discovery Centre next to the Bridport Arms car park and close to East beach. The centre has changing exhibitions through the year, and plenty of family friendly activities.
During the school holidays you’ll also find plenty going on to entertain the kids if you’re looking for things to do in West Bay.
The West Bay Discovery Centre is also dog friendly. There is a note that on very busy days, dogs may not be permitted but other than that dogs are welcome. The Centre is free to enter but donations are welcomed.
Crabbing At West Bay Harbour
The harbour at West Bay is a popular place in Dorset to go crabbing, especially during the Summer months. If you need crabbing equipment, there are shops nearby selling everything you need.
Visit Bridport Market
There are weekly Wednesday and Saturday markets in Bridport from 8am onwards. This popular street market has many long established traders.
West Bay Car Boot Sale
In the Spring and Summer months, the West Bay car boot sale is open next to the main West Bay car park every Sunday. The site is hard standing so adverse weather doesn’t affect the site too often.

There are some great restaurants in West Bay. A truly unique restaurant in Dorset is the Station Kitchen. You can dine in the train carriages for a really unique experience.
Bridport Museum

The Bridport museum is located in one of Bridport’s oldest buildings. It has a low entry fee which allows unlimited returns within a year. The museum runs plenty of exhibitions through the year as well as regular rope making demonstrations.

Palmers Brewery Tours
The Palmers Brewery is located just down the road from Flood House in Bridport. Palmers ales are brewed in one of Britain’s oldest breweries. It’s the only thatched brewery in the UK. Brewery tours can be booked in advance, and they last around two hours.
Bucky Doo Square
You can’t miss Bucky Doo Square when wandering through Bridport. It’s where the action is. Often you’ll find entertainment and musicians performing which is a great crowd gatherer.
West Bay Beaches
A visit to West Bay isn’t complete without stopping at the beach. East beach is made up of shingle and is also the access to climbing the East Cliff hill. The views from the top are worth the climb. Just take it easy when it’s been raining as the path can be slippery.
West Bay beaches are dog friendly between October and April.
West Bay Play Area
Conveniently located next to the West Bay car park, the West Bay play area is an award winning play area in Dorset. This is the perfect pit stop for the kids when visiting West Bay. There’s also a picnic area and views of East Cliff in the background.
