The Greyhound Inn in Corfe Castle is located right next to the Corfe Castle ruins. This is a family and dog friendly pub in Dorset open from 12pm daily.
You’ll find plenty of outdoor seating at the Greyhound Inn, either under cover in the marquee, or in the beer garden which offers stunning views of the castle ruins. It’s possibly one of the best beer gardens in Dorset.
If you’re planning on visiting Corfe Castle, or perhaps the Swanage Steam Railway, then stopping in at the Greyhound Inn is a great idea.
The Greyhound Inn Corfe Castle Menu
You’ll find an extensive menu with a good variety at The Greyhound Inn. There’s also different experience nights including steak night and roast dinners on a Sunday.
The menu promises to be seasonal with locally sourced ingredients. You’ll find pub classics including fish and chips, burgers, steaks and pizzas on the menu. There’s also a great selection of desserts and platters if you enjoy sharing food.
Facilities At The Greyhound Inn
There is both indoor and outside seating the The Greyhound Inn. The main attraction is outside with it’s covered marquee and open beer garden. There’s also an outside bar if you’re popping by for a drink in the garden.
If you do happen to be visiting Corfe Castle, then the entrance to the beer garden is just outside the gates of the castle ruins.
Dogs are welcome at the Greyhound Inn both indoors and outside. There’s even a cute doggy drinking station, and don’t be surprised if the staff want to make a fuss of your dog.
Our Experience
The Greyhound Inn has been on our radar to visit for a while, and during a recent visit to Corfe Castle, we had timed it perfectly for lunch. The weather was nice so we chose to sit in the beer garden to enjoy the views of the castle ruins.
We received a warm welcome from all the staff, and were seated quickly despite not booking. I did get the impression this is a popular lunch spot, so booking may be advisable in peak season.
It wasn’t long before we were offered a treat for our dog, and also asking if we needed some water too. It’s lovely when the pets are also welcomed when eating out.
We chose fish and chips and a Ploughman’s for one from the menu, and I have to say we weren’t disappointed at all. We heard another customer remark on how good the fish and chips looked on our table before we’d even tried it.
Both our meals were delicious and very reasonably priced for a country pub with such a great view. We will definitely return.
