Did you know there are some stunning places to eat in Dorset with a view? The coastal county of Dorset has beaches, coastal paths and some glorious scenery to tempt us all.

When the sun is shining allowing us to enjoy a meal al fresco. Or even when it’s not and we prefer to eat inside a cafe or restaurant. There are certain locations in Dorset with cafes and restaurants offering us amazing views as we enjoy good food and drink. Many of these are also dog friendly as well.

If you’re planning on visiting Portland Bill, you’ll also find a lovely friendly restaurant next door called the Lobster Pot Restaurant.

The Lobster Pot restaurant is a family run restaurant in Dorset which is open all year round. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available if you’re stopping for a bite to eat.

Inside the restaurant, you’ll be treated to amazing views across the water from Portland. There are plenty of seats next to the windows, so even if it’s perhaps a bit windy outside, you can still enjoy the amazing coast line.

On the menu, you’ll find breakfast, cream teas, salads and lite bites. We have enjoyed a delicious chicken and bacon salad that really left us wanting more.

You can also just pop in for a drink and cake. Kids meals are available as is a gluten, dairy free and vegan menu.

Dogs are welcome if you’re eating outside the restaurant, however they’re not permitted inside. There is a large car park at Portland Bill which is chargeable by the hour.

The View Cafe & Bar Portland

On the ground floor of The Heights Hotel in Portland you’ll find the View Cafe & Bar. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, FREE parking and is also dog friendly indoor and out.

For the humans, there is an extensive menu offering sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads, breakfast and lite bites. You’ll also find an extensive drinks menu should you wish to enjoy your drink with a view overlooking Chesil beach and the Olympic rings statue. What an amazing view across Dorset!

For your four legged friend, there is also a doggy menu if they’re dining with you. Our dog was offered water and treats by the friendly staff during our visit, so she definitely wants to go back.

Just around the corner from The Heights Hotel, you can pay a visit to Tout Quarry Sculpture Park. This is one of the many FREE things to do in Dorset which offers a fun walk and some amazing Dorset history.

Key West Bar & Grill Bournemouth

Enjoying a meal or drink at Key West Bar & Grill in Bournemouth offers the chance to eat at the end of Bournemouth Pier.

You can visit during the day for breakfast, coffee and cake, lunch and lite bites. In the evenings, you may find events and live music.

Dogs are welcome both indoors and outside so no need to leave anyone behind. During the peak Summer months, there is a charge to access Bournemouth Pier, however if you show your reservation for Key West, access is permitted free of charge.

The Greyhound Inn Corfe Castle

The Greyhound Inn in Corfe Castle is located right next to the Corfe Castle ruins. This is a family and dog friendly pub in Dorset open from 12pm daily.

You’ll find plenty of outdoor seating at the Greyhound Inn, either under cover in the marquee, or in the beer garden which offers stunning views of the castle ruins. It’s possibly one of the best beer gardens in Dorset.

We received great food and great service when dining at The Greyhound Inn. Our dog was also looked after very well with treats and the offer of water.
