Getting To Weymouth Sea Life Centre
If you’re arriving by train into Weymouth train station, the Sea Life Centre is a 20 minute walk. There is a large car park on site in Lodmoor Country Park where parking is chargeable by the hour. Cash, card or pay using the Just Park app.
Creatures At Weymouth Sea Life Centre
Once inside the sea life centre, start your visit by having a fun family photo taken with a fishy back drop. This can be viewed and purchased at the photo kiosk at the end of your visit.
There are 13 different zones to discover in the park in both indoor and outdoor settings. The park is laid out well enabling guests to easily follow the zones around in order.
Start your journey in Harbourside where you can discover the species that are native to the UK, including rays. Onwards to Tropical Lagoon to see species such as the blue tang. I guarantee you’ll say “oh look there’s Dory!” Next stop is the Rainforest. Can you spot the poisonous dart frog? They can be spotted in a variety of colours, such as blue, red, copper and gold.
In the Nursery you can spot the amazing but strange weedy seadragons, seahorses and pipefish. Did you know seahorses make a loud noise when eating?
Just outside is the Rockpool where you can get interactive with the starfish. There are hand washing stations here to use if you touch them.
Onwards to the Shipwreck to discover the colourful fish such as clown fish of the coral reefs. Their colours are so vibrant and aren’t all just the famous Nemo orange.
Next stop is the penguins. Watch them swim gracefully below the water before arriving at their beach area. If you’re lucky they might even put on a show and show off for you!
Inside the Turtle Sanctuary you can learn about how you can help protect the turtles and terrapins, before arriving at the Ocean Tunnel. Don’t forget to look up as you walk through the tunnel spotting the sharks, rays, turtles and so many other species.
Cuteness overload will arrive as you walk into Fairy Penguin Island, home to the fair penguin colony, the world’s smallest penguins.
Seal Harbour is your next stop where you can often spot the cheeky seals putting on a show for you. Did you know seals can swim upside down and hold their breath for 30 minutes.
Otters sleep a lot during the day so you may have to look really hard to spot them, unless you’re visiting at feeding time.
Facilities At Sea Life Weymouth
There’s a lot more to the sea life centre than just creatures. In good weather, you can enjoy the splash park near the entrance of the park. Caribbean Cove is a great place to stop for a while as adults rest their feet and the children play on the adventure playground.
Caribbean Cove also has refreshments, toilets and fun arcade style games to enjoy.

Also in the park is a sensory garden with a visual zone, sound pad and touch and smell.
If you’re looking to extend your day then the pirate adventure mini golf next door is a great idea. Tickets need to be booked separately for the golf.
Throughout the year, you will often find themed activity trails. After your visit, why not enjoy a meal in The Lodmoor Pub, one of the many pubs in Dorset with play areas.
