Traditionally shepherd huts were mobile units made to be moved around the fields. These were designed to give the shepherd shelter when he was tending the sheep through lambing season.

Wilksworth Caravan Park Shepherd Huts
The two stunning handmade shepherd huts at Wilksworth Caravan park in Wimborne are called ‘Baa One’ and ‘Baa None’.
They are fully fitted with a pull-down wall bed, kitchen, wood burner and shower room and also have a stunning glass roof section. You can just lay back and gaze up at all the constellations in the clear Dorset night sky.

Purbeck Shepherd Huts

There are two huts onsite at Purbeck Shepherd Huts each with their own en suite bathroom and flushing toilet.
Additionally each hut has a private garden space, but conveniently located near each other if two huts are booked together.
Inside the huts you will discover a fully equipped kitchen containing everything you need if you wish to cook. You can stay warm and toasty all year around from the wood burner, and you will also benefit from insulation and double glazing.
Also included in the huts are board games, WIFI, books and local guides to assist in discovering the local area.

Friendship Cottage Glamping

Alongside additional camping and glamping accommodation at Friendship Cottage, there is one shepherd’s hut. This is a dog friendly glamping accommodation in Dorset if you’re looking to bring the family pet.
The shepherd hut sleeps two people, includes a barbecue area, patio and wood burner. The bathrooms facilities are communal on the glamping site.
Longthorns Farm

Situated next to Monkey World and close to Lulworth Cove in Dorset, you will find Longthorns Farm. There is a wide range of glamping accommodation on offer including four shepherd huts sleeping up to four people.
The huts each have a double bed with two pull out beds underneath, a fold down table and four chairs, wood burner with logs and kindling and kitchenette.
Cooking facilities are outside the huts using a firepit and grill top, Kelly kettle for heating hot water, and nearby shared toilet and bathroom facilities. Why not enjoy an alpaca walking experience during your stay.
Moonfleet Farm

The shepherd huts are open all year around subject to weather conditions at Moonfleet Farm. Out of the three huts on site, one sleeps four people and the other two sleep two people in each. Everything is provided for you aside from your own clothes and food.
On site facilities include free WIFI, shared washroom and bathroom facilities with underfloor heating, washing machines and dryers. There is also a pub and shop situated just 300m from the farm.
Farmstead Glamping

There are two shepherd huts at Colber Farm, named The Happy Hare and The Pleasant Pheasant. Both huts have ensuite bathroom facilities and private wood burning hot tubs to relax in at the end of the day.
The huts have a small kitchen which includes a gas hob and sink, heated by a wood burner keeping you cosy and toasty. Each sleeping two people, however between May and September, a bell tent is available to hire that can be situated next to the huts.
Dorset Forest Garden Glamping

Choose from one of three different themed shepherd huts, from The Astronomer, The Artisan or The Forager, each sleeping two people.
Each hut has its own fully equipped kitchen, ensuite shower and flushing toilet, wood burning stoves, outdoor barbecue area and plenty of lovely scenery to get away from it all. There is also the option to include a private wood fired hot tub to your stay.
St Leonard’s Farm Park

There is one shepherd’s hut to hire at St Leonard’s Farm Park. The hut sleeps two with a double bed, kitchen area with electric hob and fridge.
There is also mains electricity and water with a private picnic table for dining outdoors. Toilets and showers are located in the shared block nearby. Available to hire between February and December.
California Campsite
California Cottage California Cottage, Swanage BH19 2RS
Located close to the cliffs along the Jurassic Coast, the camping field is a great spot for walkers and explorers. There is one shepherd hut to hire which looks out towards the sea. There is heating and lighting, with a kettle for hot drinks. Hot food will have to be cooked on a bbq outside.
Facilities on site are basic, but clean toilets, washbasins with running water are provided. You can enjoy a fire pit away from your tent area in the evenings.
Downshay Farm Campsite

There are spacious fields with views across to Corfe Castle at Downshay Farm. Facilities include showers and toilet blocks, washing up areas and a mobile shop that visits.
The site is very family friendly, and a great place to stay in the heart of the countryside if you want to get away from it all. One shepherd’s hut onsite with a small garden which is large enough for a tent.
Back of Beyond Touring Camping & Glamping Park

There are two shepherd huts onsite in the glamping accommodation at Back Of Beyond Park, an adults only park near Bournemouth. The shepherd huts are fully furnished with beds, heating, power and an outdoor camping kitchen.

Dewflock Farm

There are three shepher huts at Dewflock Farm, Ted, Seth and Rufus. Each hut has additional outside space for sitting on plus space around for the firepit and bales which are also included.
The site provides access to toilets and showers, a field kitchen, communal eating areas and The Pig Barn where there is hot food served in the evening.
This great family space comes with wifi access, TV and a jukebox! There is plenty of seating too so a great space for family time either watching TV, ipad fun or doing a jigsaw.
Laverstock Farm

Just 6 miles from Bridport and West Bay in rural West Dorset, you’ll find this working farm. Expect to see pigs, goats, sheep and cows on the farm during your stay.
There are two shepherd huts on site, both sleeping up to two guests. The huts sit next to a private lake with views of the countryside. Bathroom facilities are shared which includes a walk in shower.
You’ll be going off grid at Laverstock as there isn’t any electricity in the shepherd huts, but lanterns are provided for your stay.
South Lytchett Manor

The shepherd huts on site were made using local materials. Staying in the shepherd huts gives you access to all the park’s facilities.
The site covers over 20 acres of parkland and also won the award of AA’s Campsite of the Year 2021. Site facilities include free wifi, a cafe selling baked goods, cakes and drinks. There’s also indoor and outdoor washing up areas, bike hire, laundry facilities and freezer facilities.

There are two shepherd huts on site at Warmwell House. Each hut has its own separate bathroom hut with a power shower, basin and compositing loo. Outside they each have their own little campfire area.
Downhouse Farm

You can enjoy sea views down through the valley to Eype when staying in one of the Shepherd huts in Dorset at Downhouse Farm in Bridport.
The huts have no electricity, so perfect if you want to get away from it all in the Dorset countryside. Eype beach is just 15 minutes walk away across footpaths, and the nearest pub is also within walking distance.
