Snowdrops are a sign that Spring is on the way. They often show themselves in large quantities making them very easy to spot if you’re looking for them. At their best between late January and March, there are some lovely snowdrop walks in Dorset if you’re hoping to spot them.

Bluebell Woods In Dorset
Once the snowdrops have finished flowering, it’s time to start looking out for bluebells. Bluebells traditionally flower between mid April to the end of May. If we get a mild Spring, you may find them blooming earlier.

Poppy Fields In Dorset
Poppies are generally in flower between June and September. They can be an elusive flower to find as you may spot them in a field one year, yet not the next.
The most popular place to spot poppies in Dorset is near Badbury Rings. The poppies are visible from the main road (The Avenue), with parking available in the National Trust car park.
Sunflower Fields In Dorset
Sunflowers are at their best during August. In the Summer months, sunflowers are available at a variety of PYO farms and trails to explore. A sunflower field is a great way to spend a family day out choosing some to take home, or wandering through the fields.

Flower Meadows In Dorset
Flower meadows attract plenty of wildlife including bees and butterflies. They are essential for the protection and conservation of wildlife.
Corfe Mullen Meadows
Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 3SN
If you’re wanting to see some pretty wildflowers in Dorset, then a visit to Corfe Mullen meadows is a must. During May and June you can see the stunning green winged orchids, which are a gorgeous pink in colour.
Parking is available in a layby close to the entrance of the meadow. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times. During the late Summer through to the Winter, there may be cattle and ponies grazing.
When the orchids have finished flowering, the wildflowers grow and create a stunning carpet across the fields during the Summer months.
Hogchester Meadows
Axminster Road, Charmouth DT6 6BY
The meadows at Hogchester are open between May and July, showcasing over 5km of paths to walk and enjoy the flowers.
You can see primroses, wild orchids and plenty of foxgloves during your visit. Ticket sales are raising money for charity.
Kingcombe Meadows
Toller Porcorum, Dorchester DT2 0EQ
During the Spring and Summer months you can enjoy a vast array of wildflowers on your visit to Kingcombe Meadows nature reserve.
There are plenty of facilities on site at this working farm including a visitor centre, toilets, cafe, and parking. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. There are cattle grazing on site including sheeps, bulls and calves.
Lorton Meadows
Lorton Ln, Weymouth DT3 5QH
Open all year round, but with lots of wildflowers in the meadows during the Spring and Summer months.
On site there is also a conservation centre, toilets, play area and picnic area. You can take dogs, but there is cattle grazing throughout the year which includes bulls, so dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
