The address for the Mercure Queen’s Hotel Bournemouth is Meyrick Rd, Boscombe, Bournemouth BH1 3DL. The four star hotel has parking available in the hotel car park for a fee, or there is also road side parking which is chargeable.
The Queen’s Hotel is one of many spa hotels in Bournemouth, and it also one of the Bournemouth hotels close to the sea. Dogs are also welcome, although perhaps not suitable for a spa day.
Mercure Queen’s Hotel Bournemouth Spa Facilities
The spa and leisure facilities at the Queen’s Hotel in Bournemouth include a heated indoor pool, steam room and jacuzzi. There is also a relaxation room with treatment room offering a range of spa treatments.
The leisure facilities are accessed via stairs from the hotel reception. From here there is a dedicated spa reception and access to the changing rooms, pool area and treatment rooms.
Our Experience Of Queen Hotel Bournemouth Spa Facilities
During our visit, there was an option of booking a treatment, but due to the size of our group and the limitations of having to separate for treatments, we decided not to book anything.
After a morning coffee in the Green Room restaurant, our relaxation morning was to begin. After finding the changing rooms which are accessed through the pool area, we were ready to relax.
I did find it a bit strange to wander around the side of the pool to reach the changing rooms, and then back out again to find the toilets.
The pool area is a nice size, and the heat in the pool was pleasantly warm. There was seating around the edge of the pool, with the jacuzzi and steam room to the side. Sadly on our visit the jacuzzi wasn’t working, but the pool and the steam room were a nice way to relax.
This is a family friendly hotel in Bournemouth, so you may find children in the pool with you during your spa day. This is something to keep in mind if you were looking for an adult’s only spa break in Bournemouth, as you wont find it at the Queen’s Hotel.
Our visit was on a Sunday, and found we had the pool to ourselves by late morning. It was a nice way to relax and spend some time doing nothing. The relaxation room was large with plenty of space for everyone, but I would recommend using it after a treatment rather than after the pool. It was quite a chilly space when you are damp from swimming.
Mercure Queen’s Hotel Afternoon Tea
Part of our spa day experience was a sparkling afternoon tea. We visited the beautifully decorated Green Room restaurant for a relax prior to our afternoon tea. With a pleasant welcome, we weren’t hurried to start our afternoon tea, and had a very relaxing few hours.
The afternoon tea was presented in a beautiful open bird cage which contained all the sweet treats. Sandwiches were presented on a separate plate.
In our party, there was one gluten free afternoon tea ordered, and this was delivered separately. Reviews fed back was that it was very good for a gluten free afternoon tea in Bournemouth.
The sandwiches contained fillings of tuna, egg mayo, ham mayo and cheese and chutney. Cakes were tempting and the scones still warm when delivered to us. There was plenty of jam and clotted cream to go around as well with generous portions.
There was plenty of food to go around, and we definitely couldn’t finish it all. A couple of the sandwiches arrived a little stale, but sadly we often find that with afternoon tea as they are prepared in advance. A nice treat of a glass of Prosecco was delivered to us at the end of our afternoon tea to enjoy.
The cakes however were really fresh, as were the scones, jam and cream. Overall we all felt we had received value for money.
As there are so many different spa day options depending on how and where you book, I would recommend doing some research to ensure you get the best deal possible for you. However our third party deal provided us with good value for money even without taking advantage of a treatment upgrade.
