Open Farm Sunday in Dorset is on Sunday 9th June in 2024. It’s farming’s annual open day which gives visitors the chance to learn more about the countryside and farming, Farmers also get the chance to talk about everything they love.
There are over 1600 farms opening their gates across the UK on Open Farm Sunday, and in Dorset, there are some great farms to visit as well.
Kingston Maurward College
Dorset, DT2 8PY
You can visit the Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens on Open Farm Sunday to learn about how they are working sustainably to enhance the environment. There will be plenty of farm related activities on offer as well.
The cost is £5 per car and a 15p booking fee. See some ponies, donkeys, goats, small animals and birds of prey.

Nutley Farm

This Open Farm Sunday event is FREE to attend. You have the chance to visit and see the animals, and also the reindeer (which is also a popular Christmas event).
Animals at Nutley Farm include alpaca, pigs, horses, turkeys, chickens and reindeer.
Down Barn Farm

This Open farm Sunday event is FREE to attend. There will be tractor and trailer rides. Animals and machinery will also be on display. Enjoy a milking demonstration, plus a wide range of local foods and drinks.
Gold Hill Organic Farm

At Gold Hill organic Farm, there are over 35 different varieties of vegetables grown on 47 minimal dig raised beds. During Open Farm Sunday there will be family orientated farm walks and talks. There is also a cafe which will be open all day as well.
Lavender Keepers

This family run farm in Dorset operates completely on green energy. On the farm there are Tamworth pigs, sheep and ducks. There will be tractor and trailer rides, and a hog roast, live music and cider bar open.
The Old Ways

A farm tour of The Old Ways at Symondsbury Estate will take place between 11:00 and 13:00 on Sunday 11th June 2023. The tour will be starting from Manor Yard, outside Symondsbury Kitchen/Cafe.
Denhay Farm

On Open Farm Sunday at Denhay Farm, take a trailer ride to see lots of interesting areas of the farm. See the pigs and chickens, the wheat, barley and herbal crops and plenty more.
There will also be a range of farming activities for younger people get a hands-on experience of some farming activities featuring a dairy area to ‘milk’ a cow.
Gutchpool Farm
Gillingham, Dorset, SP8 5QP
There will be farm walks on Open Farm Sunday to see the agroforestry and mob grazing system at Gutchpool Farm.
Games for the children and free refreshments will also be provided throughout the day.
Church Farm
Semley, Dorset, SP7 9AS
Church Farm is a family run dairy farm in Dorset. On Open Farm Sunday, ther farm will be open so see farm activities. These include tractor rides to see the cows, the calf pens and sheep shearing.
There will also be lots of tractors to explore and games for the children. Refreshments will also be available and any money raised will go to charity.
